Experience real-life Medical scenarios - 12 Places remaining!

For those most dedicated to a career in Medicine and would like to take your experience to the next level by getting a real ‘hands-on’ experience of typical medical scenarios faced by hospital doctors. The one-day event is held at Barts & The London Hospital in Central London.

About M&D SIM

In the simulation, a realistic dummy is used to imitate various medical scenarios. The simulation can also be filmed which will give students thorough, accurate feedback on their performance. At the end of the day there is a de-briefing session for students to get feedback, and reflect on what they learned throughout the day.

Each student is also presented with a certificate on completion.

The overall goal of simulation training is to practice skills in a realistic setting, to improve communication skills, conflict resolution and professional decision-making in a team and individually. All the training is experiential and activity based.

This method of training has become an increasingly popular way to train medical professionals in a range of areas, which is why it will be an invaluable experience for all potential Medics.

Course Aims

  • To allow student participation in a wide range of health care skills
  • To provide a realistic setting where students receive training from clinical experts
  • To introduce students to the importance of non-technical skills in the workplace – with emphasis on effective communication, team work, problem solving, and decision-making
  • To provide students with knowledge and information relating to the many diverse roles within the NHS
  • To reflect the increasing cross-disciplinary nature of the NHS
  • To provide immediate feedback for increased improvement
  • To raise student aspiration and accomplishment
  • Run by the Centre Manager, Simulation Fellow/Urology Registrar, Senior ODP and Final Year Medical Students.
